Let me save you weeks of work, by creating a website that’s designed to get found on the internet. SEO-search engine optimization is key to getting your site found on the first page of Google, if you don’t understand that-you will waste time and money creating a “build it yourself” site.

Do It Yourself:

I recommend and use Bluehost for most of the web sites I design.  I am an affiliate with them, which means since I use them and send recommendations I receive a small amount for referring new people (at no cost to you.) I only recommend companies I’ve used and love-Bluehost is one of the hundreds of hosts for websites.  Many of the others you’ll find a just resellers for Bluehost or Godaddy anyway.  I recommend and use them as they  have great customer service, also price is inexpensive.  They are in U.S. and the customer service reps speak clearly and are super helpful.  That is really important down the line, trust me.

I also use Godaddy,www.GoDaddy.com If you only need a domain (website) name,  right now  then Goddaddy might be your choice (see more info, under “or hire me.”)  (Bluehost sells hosting and domains together only.)  So you can always add hosting later.  They are a good choice if you are not ready to set up website but don’t want to lose a good name you’ve chosen.

to do the task of finding domain name that matches your business as closely and sensibly as possible (often an exact match to your business name is taken or may not convey well (for search engines finding you)-what your business does.   For example:  your business is named “Jenny’s Sweet Shop,” you are in the town of Amherst and you sell baked goods and pastries.   It might be best to find a domain name like “JennysBakeryAmherst.”  The latter will likely rank higher in search engines as the term “bakery” is in the name (a likely search term for the actual products you make) as is town location.   I can also purchase hosting for your website.  Billed at hourly rate.

Website Maintenance:

Once your website is designed then upkeep of the site is important to:

• maintain good search engine rankings.  I love plants, so using that example you wouldn’t buy a plant, put it in the corner and forget about it.  It needs watering, sunlight, fertilizer, or it would die.  Similarly a website needs upkeep.  Billed at hourly rate.

Updating Old Site:

Updating a website not designed by us:  Pricing depends greatly on what needs to be done.  Factors include: how the site was designed, and ease of access to the back-end of site and how much change is needed, is it structural changes or only content?  If it’s a WordPress site that needs simple updating that can be rather quick but, if built with other program may be more time consuming to alter.  Sometimes it’s actually easier to start from scratch, this is often the case if the site is years old and was not built professionally.

Step 1:  For you–Here is my client design worksheet, form-it can help you to plan what you would need to provide to a web designer or it can also help you if you plan on building your website yourself. It is stored in Google Docs Document, click Download as from the File menu, and select a format: HTML, RTF, Word, Open Office, PDF, Text file.   Fill it out and email it back to me.  We can set up a time for a free consultation.

Step 2:  PAYMENT:

Once I’ve received your completed client design worksheet and see the scope of the work and the deposit is received, work begins on your site.   Payments are secure via Paypal.  The final payment is due once your site is completed and live on the web.
